John Eaton has been appointed as Head Coach of the Great Britain Blind Baseball team for the WBSC Blind Baseball International Cup at Farnham Park at the end of September.

John has been a major force in the development of blind baseball across the country and has been involved in Manchester Baseball Club as a coach and player for over 25 years.

“John has a great deal of knowledge and experience in blind baseball and is an excellent choice to lead the team in the International Cup,” said Gavin Marshall, the BBF National Teams Programme Official. “We wish him and every member of the team the best of luck in the tournament and are confident they will do GB Baseball proud.”

The blind baseball team has come a long way since its first tournament in Rome in 2019 which included a victory over the USA.

There are currently around 50 blind baseball players across the country and more clubs are setting up on a regular basis.

“I am delighted to be appointed as Head Coach to this fantastic group of athletes,” said John.”The tournament at Farnham Park will be a great vehicle to showcase visually impaired sport and will be a great opportunity for the wider community to get involved.”

The tournament will take place from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th September at the National Baseball and Softball Complex at Farnham Park.

Further details and a list of the teams taking part will be published soon.
